Kokusai Aikidō Kenshūkai Kobayashi Hirokazu Ha

AKA Kobayashi Aikido is the style I am currently practicing. It is a second generation style of Aikido (created after Ueshiba Morihei died). That is what I found out tonight, soon, I will investigate further about the styles particularities.
Also, I was practicing a technique that was dangerously similar to bagua zhang! And tasty! A dojorat told me that I would be realizing the similarities between the two arts, tonight that certainly happened, and I am starving to eat mat!

  1. Are you a total beginner? If so I'm eager to follow this. I'm looking for that next job that promotes me and takes me out of this state. When I find it I'll probably be looking for my retirement art. Aikido is on my list. At first I've been critical of it. However, part from research and part from a formal chin na class I've rethought this. So it is on my list. I'm very eager to read your posts.

  2. Thank you for your attention! After reading, "the Art of Peace" by Ueshiba Morihei, "Aikido and the Dynamic Sphere" by Adele Westbrook and Oscar Ratti, and "The Spirit of Aikido" by Ueshiba Kisshomaru, practicing introductory drills in both Karate and Tai Chi Chuan classes...I'd say I'm about .5% knowledgable about Aikido! So I'm about as fresh as it gets. Your comment inspires me to document my trials and feelings as well as possible. So stay tuned!

  3. Coolness! I'm enjoying reading of your exploits. Perhaps after you get back from Japan you out to drag some of the other Dojo Rats down to Mississippi to play with me - That'd sorta be like visiting another country - just no passport needed ;-)

  4. Zacky -

Obviously, I can read Japanese characters so if you e-mail addy is on your blog I can't find it. Anyhow, I might have the occasional question about aikido that I'd like to pester you with. Since you have trained in other arts you will probably have some of the same perspectives/observations that I would if I just started. Anyhow, if you don't mind a few questions here's my addy: bpatterson67@comcast.net

And if you don't like e-mail I'll just pester you here!

    :-)
